Privacy policy

The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a countdown calendar, we don’t run ads or sell data, there are no tracking cookies, and you can delete everything yourself.

What we collect

Account: your email address (for sign-in codes and nothing else by default) and a handle. Handles are generated randomly at signup precisely so your email is never exposed — nothing derived from your email is ever public.

Your use of hypanac:the items on your calendar, pages and edits you make, collections, shares, and anonymous-ish usage signals (views/adds per page) that power the hype meter. Search queries you explicitly send to AI research are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to find dates; they’re logged with cost data to enforce quotas.

Payments: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store card numbers — only your Stripe customer id, subscription id, and plan status.

What’s public

Your handle, public pages you create, and wiki edits (attributed to your handle) are public. Your calendar is private by default; you can opt into a public profile. Private pages are visible only to you.

Cookies

hypanac sets only strictly necessary cookies: the session that keeps you signed in. Your theme choice is stored in your browser’s local storage. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party trackers — which is why there’s no cookie banner to click away.

Who processes data for us

Supabase (database & auth), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and Anthropic (AI research queries only). Public catalog data is fetched from TMDB, IGDB, Ticketmaster, and Apple — your personal data is not sent to them. Some processors run in the United States.

Retention & deletion

Data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account (Profile → delete my account) is immediate and self-serve: your calendar, private pages, shares, collections, feed token, research log, and billing link are erased, and any active subscription is cancelled. Public wiki contributions remain — like any wiki — but are anonymized, with your handle and account link removed.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you can access, correct, export, or erase your data, and complain to your local data-protection authority. Most of it you can do directly in the app; for the rest, email hello@hypanac.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we’ll say so on the site before it takes effect.
